Starting a new life.

Posted in Group:

My name is Amie. I have a problem with drugs and alcohol. Mainly cocaine was the problem. I never used by myself, I was always with other people. That's been my biggest problem was who I associated myself with. I met this guy who I thought I was in love with we had children together and were using and ended up getting caught. Once dcfs stepped into our lives it was a god send at least to me. I haven't used since May of last year. My ex decided to keep using and in turn it ended up really bad where I got the crap kicked out of me. He was never abusive before. So I am on my journey in life right now to get all of the negative people out of my life. I would to hear what people have to say.

I was addicted to cocaine for about a year, my ex-boyfriend was a dealer and used to give it to me everyday... at first I wanted it, then I felt like I needed it to be normal me... none of that was true. I have been clean for a little over 2 years now. .. The fact is I had to get away from anyone who used/sold it in order to see more clearly. You have made the right decision to get away from those people, also you a very strong to have stopped using you should be proud of everyday you are and have been sober :) Him, on the other hand may need to be without you in order to find himself. You surely don't deserve to be abused, so don't feel bad for leaving him alone you have to remain healthy for your children and yourself, dealing with him may result in you being hurt or back on drugs and neither one is good. Hope I helped :)

I want to thank you for your reply to this post. It feels good to know that I am not the only in this situation or to have this kind of a problem. You helped me out a lot. I am having a very hard time opening up about my addictiions and problems while trying to trust people.
