Time to change

Posted in Group:

I'm a 38 year old divorcee in a professional job who's social life now revolves around getting high on my own. It's time to change, I don't know where to start and hope you can help.
My main problem is my dealer lives 3 doors away and I am not in a position to move (spent all my money getting high!).
Every day I'm determined to stop but I think 5 days is my record so far so I'm finally looking for help. Mike's posts have inspired me, hopefully I can do as well as him.

Thank you...

goatman-your are already taking a step in the right direction. coming on this site has helped me so much. even just keeping a journal on here and getting it all out helps so much. you just need to take it one day at a time. remember that you are important without the drugs. it is far from easy to travel this road of sobriety. however, the rewards are much greater than the sacrifices that we make while getting high...i really hope that this finds you on your first sober day. please continue to post. and perhaps we can help one another on this journey. if you need to talk, i am here to listen...

Thanks Mike, I will certainly continue to post, my own stupidity has already cost me my wife and I wish you all the best and am gald you have the chance to keep yours!
The daft thing is I don't enjoy it anymore (did I ever?) but having lost all those close to me it's been easier to be high than to confront my problems.

As I said time to change...

Determination and luck (both please!)

i am so happy to hear that you are willing to change. its not going to be easy, and its going to hurt. buts our own fault for doing this to ourselves. i am truely sorry to hear about your wife. however, you may not have lost her completely. you just keep striving everyday to make yourself the best possible you that you can be. and you never know. those whom have been close to you may begin to come back into your life, as they begin to see the changes in you. good luck to you goatman. i am here if you ever need to talk.

I'M A 51 YEAR OLD CAREER WOMAN. I'VE SPENT MY WHOLE LIFE FOCUSING ON CAREER AND FAMILY. THERE HAS BEEN NO ROOMFOR FRIENDSHIPS. MY MARRIAGE RECENTLY ENDED AFTER 27 YEARS. MY HUSBAND FOUND HIMSELF A GIRLFRIEND. NOW IT IS TIME FOR ME TO START OVER BUT I'M NOT SURE WHERE TO START. I'M READY TO RETIREFROM MY CAREER BUT I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE UNTIL I HAVE AN IDEA OF WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. I ENJOY HELPING OTHERS BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO EXPLORE LEARNING HOW TO ENJOY MYSELF. I HAVE VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE AT HAVING FUN. MY KID ARE ALL GROWN AND I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN RELATE.
